Brief Summary:

The School of Liberal Arts at Marist College invites applications for an interdisciplinary Teaching Associate position to begin in the fall of 2018.  The Teaching Associate will teach First Year Seminar (FYS) courses in our Core/Liberal Studies Program and will contribute to the curricula of the Departments of English, History, or Philosophy.  Taken by every undergraduate at Marist, the FYS instructs students in writing, information literacy, and public presentation via course topics developed by individual faculty members. FYS sections are capped at 20 students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Teaching Associate position is teaching intensive, including 4-5 courses each semester, with no research or service requirements.  Successful candidates will be able to teach interdisciplinary, skill-intensive FYS courses and offer Core/Liberal Studies courses in their disciplinary area, such as Writing for College; American History; Philosophical Perspectives. A typical teaching load will consist of two FYS courses and two Core courses each semester.


We seek excellent teachers with innovative approaches to skill development, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary work in the humanities. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate teaching experience and effectiveness.  Master’s Degree required; Ph.D. preferred.
