Brief Summary:

The Office of College Advancement at Marist College seeks an Assistant Director of Annual Giving – Student & Young Alumni Engagement to oversee the Student Phonathon program, senior class gift, student philanthropy education, and young alumni giving programs. S/he will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to ensure annual fundraising targets are met. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director will oversee Student Phonathon callers and supervisors, establish calling schedules, and set shift goals. S/he will provide daily/nightly supervision of student employees, communicate results to the Marist Fund team, and facilitate the pledge reminder and stewardship processes.  This position is also responsible for a senior class gift campaign, managing a student philanthropy education program including a group of student volunteers, and for developing a program for Marist 10 (graduates of the last decade), identifying and overseeing a group of volunteers and face-to-face solicitation of recent graduates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct the daily management of the Student Phonathon Program, including the supervision of 25+ student employees, maintain up-to-date knowledge and implementation skills for the calling software; write and update calling scripts and related materials throughout each semester to meet the needs and goals of the annual giving program.
  • Generate, maintain and analyze daily and weekly Phonathon reports on calling shifts and statistical data to inform decisions related to the Phonathon calling program, including efforts to close unfulfilled pledges.
  • Monitor the quality of each caller contact with prospects and make the necessary adjustments as needed as well as develop and implement effective motivational techniques. Develop and lead a comprehensive engagement effort that fosters a culture of philanthropy among Marist students. Coordinate all efforts of student volunteer management including student philanthropy ambassadors; senior class giving program and other activities that support and encourage student philanthropic engagement with the College.
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive program, Marist10, to engage and encourage young alumni in philanthropic support of the College.  
  • Assist with reunion fundraising efforts, including managing reunion fundraising volunteers to assist in the solicitation of their peers to support the overall reunion-giving program.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one to three years directly related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience; candidates with previous experience as a student phonathon worker combined with professional experience are welcome to apply; knowledge of phonathon programs and software and/or direct marketing strategies; excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communications skills; ability to represent the college effectively; demonstrated ability to relate with recent graduates and current students; ability to attend college functions during and after normal business hours.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work evening hours regularly. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory experience and experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Experience with volunteer management is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to a complex dialing system.
