Brief Summary:

The Marist College Department of Mathematics invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Mathematics to begin fall 2018.  Responsibilities will include teaching a variety of mathematics courses at the undergraduate level, continuing scholarly activity, and institutional participation. Candidates with a Ph.D. or an imminent Ph.D. completion date in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics or Statistics will be considered with preference given to those working in Applied Mathematics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Mathematics offers a traditional B.A. in Mathematics, a B.A. in Mathematics Education, and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics with concentrations in actuarial science, biology, chemistry, and computer science. In addition, we offer an interdisciplinary B.S. in Data Science and Analytics with the Department of Computing Technology. The successful applicant will join a department characterized by a strong sense of community in which students are the central focus and faculty are both accessible and approachable. Teaching responsibilities will include 9 & 12 contact hours per week in alternating semesters.

Qualifications:

All qualified candidates will be considered, however preference will be given to those who demonstrate superior teaching skills, enthusiasm in the classroom, and the ability to continually develop as a teacher. While Marist recognizes teaching as the most important professional activity, scholarship and service are also required. The person hired will be expected to develop an active research program that leads to peer-reviewed publications and to collaborate with the department on curricular issues.
