Brief Summary:

The School of Science at Marist College invites applications for a part-time instructor in the Department of Biology, beginning January 2018. Minimum qualifications include an M.S. in Biology or closely related field to teach a junior-senior level undergraduate class in comparative vertebrate anatomy. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibility includes two 75-minute lectures one 3-hour lab per week.


  • A Ph.D. or M.S. in Biology or closely related field
  • Expertise in comparative vertebrate anatomy
  • Enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates and excellent teaching skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Although prior teaching experience in the traditional classroom is highly desirable, some evidence of effective teaching skills, enthusiasm in the classroom, and a strong interest in undergraduate education are essential. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a PhD or appropriate degree beyond the master’s level who demonstrate an aptitude for teaching advanced undergraduates.  The successful applicant will join a department characterized by a strong sense of community in which students are the central focus and faculty are both accessible and approachable.
